Whether we realize it or not, we all have a vision and purpose for our life in the form of goals, dreams, and expectations. But many times, in hindsight, we don’t see these dreams coming to fruition like we thought.
The other morning, I was reading in I Corinthians where Paul encourages us to not to complain as the Israelites once complained in the desert in their pursuit of the Promised Land. If we look into the Israelites’ “journey” in Numbers 14, most of them have taken to complaining against their leader Moses and God for not taking them into the Promised Land as quickly as expected. God then tells the children of Israel in verse 29, “The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above.”
Just like the children of Israel had a vision and purpose of reaching the Promised Land, we all have a “Promised Land” that we are working and journeying towards. But if we find ourselves down in the dumps and complaining about our circumstances and where we are at, we will never reach the full potential of what God has for us. Our vision will “fall in this wilderness” if we do not allow the Dream Giver, God, to take us through the journey and trust that he rules sovereignly.
So as you journey toward your goal in life, remember that God has a plan for your life and your vision. Trust the Dream Giver and he will bless you beyond what you could ever ask or imagine.
